ENSIGMA Communications IP Platform

ENSIGMA™ UCCP IP platforms are a unique family of system-level IP solutions based on Imagination’s UCC (Universal Communications Core) fully programmable architecture together with META™ SoC processors and other dedicated hardware IP to minimize host CPU load for all supported standards. All UCCP platforms provide a complete, highly autonomous multi-standard, multi-stream low-power solution for both connectivity and broadcast receiver applications, enabling WiFi and other connectivity standards as well as analogue and digital TV, mobile TV, and digital and FM radio reception standards on a single device. The platform is equally well suited to form the basis of a stand-alone communications chipset or integration into larger SoC devices.

The ENSIGMA UCC technology features a uniquely optimized balance of programmability and hardware configurability, yet occupies equivalent or less silicon area compared to hard-wired, single-standard hardware communications solutions, while at the same time providing the highest levels of performance in all critical areas. The latest Series3 UCC architecture provides a host of new features including full transmit path support, multi-engine, diversity and multi-context capabilities.

UCCP IP platforms provide the foundation of a broad range of highly-integrated communications solutions for connectivity, TV or radio reception, or a combination of both, reducing cost, design risk and time-to-market. A comprehensive suite of fully optimised microcode implementations for a wide range of standards is available, alongside reference driver and control software, tools and evaluation systems to further ease design integration.
