POWERVR Insider Utilities
The POWERVR Developer Technology team has developed a collection of utilities to help developers create exciting 3D content. These include a texture compression tool, which enables texture data to be compressed to 2 or 4 bits per pixel using the POWERVR texture compression (PVRTC) formats, an optimizing vertex shader compiler for POWERVR VGP, an optimized geometry exporter, an optimized vector graphics exporter, an integrated shader development environment and emulation for both OpenGL ES 1.x/2.0 and Direct3D Mobile, thus allowing content to be developed
on PC or Mac platforms running Windows, Linux or Mac OS.
You can download these utilities separately or as part of an SDK.
PVRTrace
PVRTrace is a tool for analysing OpenGL ES applications, capturing the EGL and OpenGL ES API calls made by an application. PVRTrace is compatible with hardware devices and the PVRVFrame emulator, and no recompilation of the application is required. The captured data can then be analysed with the standalone PVRTrace GUI analysis application.
PVRVFrame
A set of emulation libraries which allow OpenGL ES 1.0/1.1/2.0 and Direct3D Mobile applications to run directly on any Desktop PC with an OpenGL and DirectX9 compliant graphics accelerator. OpenGL ES is supported for both Windows and Linux; Direct3D Mobile is only supported under Windows.
PVRTexTool
Tools to convert bitmap files (e.g., BMP, JPG, PNG, TGA) to any texture type supported by POWERVR MBX and/or POWERVR SGX hardware including PVRTC, DXT and ETC compressed formats. Both a GUI and command line version are supplied for Windows and Linux. There are also plugins for Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya and Adobe Photoshop.
PVRTexLib Library
Texture compression, decompression and processing library to allow easy integration with custom artwork toolchains.
PVRGeoPOD
Official POWERVR geometry and animation export plugin for Autodesk 3ds Max 6, 7, 8 & 9 and Autodesk Maya 7 & 8. Exports model data into optimized POWERVR POD file format; also supports special features, e.g., tangent space generation and bone batching.
Collada2POD
Standalone tool which converts Khronos COLLADA Digital Asset geometry and animations into the optimized POWERVR POD file format.
PVRVecEx
PVRVecEx is a plug-in for Adobe Illustrator CS1 & CS2 enabling the export of vector graphics artwork into the POWERVR vector graphics (PVG) file format optimized for efficient rendering through the Khronos OpenVG API.
PVRUniSCo Editor
Graphical front-end for the PVRUniSCo shader compiler allowing easy creation and editing of OpenGL ES 2.0 shading language vertex and fragment shader programs in addition to POWERVR FX (PFX) files.
PVRShaman
PVRShaman is an integrated development environment designed to ease the creation of GLSL ES vertex and fragment shaders. PVRShaman uses POD files, exported from 3ds max or Maya (using PVRGeoPOD from the POWERVR SDK), and applies POWERVR FX (PFX) files to it. COLLADA files are also supported.
PVRTune
PVRTune is a remote, hardware performance profiler for SGX platforms used to graph on-chip and driver counters in real time. PVRTune includes shader performance and memory efficiency statistics.
PVRTune is available under NDA for selected platforms (Beagle Board, OMAP3 Zoom, OMAP3 Zoom 2 and OMAP3 SDP).
